Hey John , nope, I'm no weapons expert, but I don't buy it that a kid with barely enough stubble to grow a moustache is a talented marksman. What I'd appreciate more is to know as an MD what your POV is on the parents who are both mental healthcare workers. Were they overseeing any SSRI medications on their son? As you know, this is a very common situation among young shooters.
I don't have any medical or family data. Some may come out. Somebody groomed some young zealot for this suicide mission.

400 ft with an AR-15 and a rest is nothing special for a regular young guy. We don't know what model AR-15 it was. Some have longer, better barrels, but that is just not very far. Whoever it was did fine technically, right?
The SS in the building below him could have been the real snipers, the kid on the roof a set-up for immediate death. Maybe that’s why they made it crystal clear that the police knew he was wandering around with a weapon and then on the roof, with many attendees pointing out a guy on the roof with a gun.
